No Shauna, you are not the only one. What happened to 'never complain, never explain'? There was some majesty to that at least. This reactive briefing is evidence that Charles is scrambling to manage his image and that Harry's nonsense is genuinely rattling him. It's weak and pathetic stuff for a King. We need a clear decisive statement from the Palace, shutting the whole H&M dog and pony show down. Now THAT is majestic.

I think Charles tries to stay as noncommittal as possible. He desperately wants to appeal to all sides. Has to see the way the wind is blowing, and it has to be going pretty hard before he says anything definitive. He learned to stick his head in the sand from his mother, but at least she made clear decisions and was consistent. He’s also surrounded by yes men. It has long been reported for many sources that he will not tolerate people who disagree with him. And that really is destructive. He likes to stay in his bubble sometimes I think the old way of do as little as possible and wait for it to blow over has been a crutch for the royal family. It can be effective. But it’s so hands off that it’s almost neglecting a problem.

I agree with you. He’s too cowardly to come out against anyone or anything.

The issue with that attitude, is if you ‘stand’ for everything…you truly stand for nothing.

MM BELIEVES SHE WAS THE FIRST R TO DO SO.😂😂😂😂😂

DID SHE LEARN ANYTHING IN SCHOOL OR WAS IT JUST HEAD WORK?

MANY MOONS AGO WAS SOMETHING CALLED RADIO. 📻

ON A MICROPHONE 🎤 UNCLE DAVID ANNOUNCED HE COULDNT BE KING BECAUSE OF THE WOMAN HE LOVED.

Charles is The Ditherer. Clear communication requires having a definite opinion. It does not suit Charles and his minions to step up and shut the Harkle circus down. He might actually have to confront something head on....oh, the horror.

Harry, despite having a speech nailed down next week at a London think tank, does not have the intelligence to stop the Meggsie soap opera. As you well know, Shauna, he is still at the petulant child stage where emotions rule. He has bought into Meggsie's belief that any attention, good or bad, is worth it.

A weak father, an equally weak son. Both find "leaking" more their style.

Well said , I completely agree ! I wish this could be sent straight to KC Princess Anne …. The people are so done with this BS ! For a man who gave such a gifted speech in the US to Congress I ask where is that man now ?

No you’re not alone Shauna, and it’s giving me the ick.

Clear and concise, as always, Shauna! It is sad how weak and uncertain, King Charles so frequently appears.

Once again, you are absolutely correct. This entire situation has spun completely out of control.

I’m beyond disappointed that emotionality has ruled the day. But I’m looking beyond the Harry situation for the cause.

As long as everyone focuses on the soap opera, they are not looking at the sleight of pen wielded by KC3 in his three pronged rewriting of the role he occupies, where he lives, and how much money he gets.

It serves his purpose to keep the whining at fever pitch, and to hell with the veterans.

Bullseye, you’ve nailed it Sheila. KC3 sneakily rewriting the foundations while everyone is running around like chicken little. It doesn’t suit him to step up and be honest and forthright, he’s far too Fabian for that.

You have no idea how much I want to march right up to KC III-using my most stern mother’s voice-& tell him to STOP IT!

Adding in: he is an adult AND the monarch. He needs to stop pussyfooting around. Say what you mean & mean what you say!!!

No more mealy mouthed, cowardly hiding, nonsense.

Take order of your flock, or someone far less kind may swoop in & do so.

And to Harry, I say: grow up! Think of the effect you have on others.

Stop prioritizing your selfish wants & realize most others have unmet needs!

Ugh!!!

Spot on Shauna!

I’m confused. Has the Palace issued any statement with respect to this visit of Harry and possibly the rest of the family? This whole episode is a debacle!! Agree that the Veterans’ wellbeing should be of prime concern. Also the charities the Sussexes are lined up to visit. To date, my understanding is that the Sussexes have not even RSVP’d to the offer of accommodation at a secure Royal residence. Appallingly bad mannered. (Don’t get me started on the security plot)….

I wonder about the two young Sussex children. Had they been promised by the parents a visit to a Palace, pony rides, lots of lovely treats and adventures in England? How incredibly cruel to raise hopes and then throw doubt on whether they will even be allowed by their parents to have this holiday!! It’s not just the Veteran’s wellbeing to be considered here.

With respect to the King & Palace, they give the impression that they are wringing their hands behind the scenes, not knowing how to deal with the family. I truly cannot understand why a private family visit could not have been insisted upon at any time. The public should never have been informed!! The King must be firmer and he must act with more purpose and clarity.

Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the “Live”.

Excellent take, Shauna!! So clear and cogent. If only the Palace would folloe suit . . . 🩵

Shauna, wow this is certainly clear insight as I haven’t heard anyone mention this. It is terrible to forget what these men and women have gone through and their reactions to a stressful situation. Where is the empathy that these two grifters say they are so compassionate about? The z palace needs better people surrounding King Charles because he could end this by making a clear concise statement. What’s so hard in that?

Julia Jenkins's avatar

If Harry thought anything about the veterans, or the other charities he is supposed to be visiting, he would stay away and not put them in danger. He could appear via video. This whole visit is a mess.

Lorraine O'Leary's avatar

Yes correct, if he believes the information in the security report that he bought and paid for, that is exactly what Harry would do. He would also not have released this information at all if he cared a jot about the veterans mental well being, but does he?

I also think Charles does nothing because it works - the hue and cry over Camilla - he did nothing, nothing changed until people got used to her, I’m not sure anyone actually changed their opinion. She was accepted because people just got used to her being there. Same with Harry, to a point he’s burning himself out - people have had enough of the drama but still I think Charles needs to man up and set firm boundaries or reinforce the Late Queens, he isn’t leaving it to William he is just doing nothing

Charles has a complex about his successor. William has every right to be disgusted.

Kaz's avatar

Maybe that was the way he was brought up, I mean being the heir but a spare all of your life must mess with your head. I do think this is one of the reasons William and Catherine spending so much time with the kids is essential for them to raise healthy well adjusted children with each one having their own purpose, not just spare to the spare.
